While traveling, I always seem to make friends with children. In Belize, I was photographing things to paint when Miguel begged me to take his photo. Sweaty from the soccer game he left for the photo-op, the glistening of his brow, and the low angle of the sun made his portrait fun to draw. Having seen the results, Miguel seemed satisfied, and returned to his game. It seems a curious thing to me now, but I was happy for the encounter. Miguel, in this case, reminds me that all of life is fleeting, take an opportunity, live it, then move on. Miguel, was in my life for seconds, but the memory of him is pleasant. If I should be so lucky to have the same effect upon my brief encounters, wouldn’t life for all be more rich?
