What separates me from other things is not matter, but thoughts, ideas, and intentions. This homeless man and I have have more in common than we have differences. The things that distinguish our life goals and pursuits are what we think about and our desires. “Man, hath no greater love than this; that he should lay down his life for his friends.” Ultimately, what separates us is our willingness to love. Love ourselves selfishly, or love our neighbor as our self. By loving others as we desire to be loved, we fulfill our greatest purpose.
