So I ran yesterday to San Francisco’s Golden Gate park. It was a beautiful sunny day, and anywhere would have produced inspiration for art. I happened to find some squirrels that were hungry. They climbed on my legs and were generally curious about me drawing them. It really made me feel like Grizzly Adams. I have never drawn animals that move that fast like the Disney animators used to do, and you really have to be on your game. It was fun. There are things that you miss like this in the studio. Painting and drawing from life is far more rewarding. Also pictured is a another bum that had a nice beard and hat, some flowers I saw, and a study for Sara’s hand for the monsterpiece.
