What human would rather send their kid to war? Who would rather sit back in their back yard drinking a lemonade or ice tea with their grandkids? Who would rather watch them lock and load their M16 or AR15, watch them toss a grenade into a home, and then watch them deal with the trauma of realizing that grenade killed a bunch of kids?

People ask me all the time why I do this? The answer is very simple: I can not sit idly by any longer. If I don’t do something to counteract the current direction of the world toward poverty, abuses of children, and war, I feel I will then be complicit in the act of watching and aiding these atrocities.

Edmund Burke said it best, “All that is necessary for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.”

In Occupy Frankfurt. May 19, 2012, the German police took off their helmets and marched with the protest clearing the way for them. The police coming over to serve and protect the people… Blockupy Frankfurt. Police are escorting, not participating. Reports of an estimated 20,000+ protesters. Nice to see their faces…. and their humanity coming through…

Protesters peacefully filled the city center of continental Europe’s biggest financial hub in their protest against the dominance of banks and what they perceive to be untamed capitalism, Frankfurt police spokesman Ruediger Regis said. The protest group calling itself Blockupy has called for blocking the access to the European Central Bank, which is located in Frankfurt’s business district.

What to do then. Not all people must give up everything they own and begin walking around the world for peace. But each of us, in our own microcosms can do something…anything, try do something small. Do what you want, do what you can for peace. Sweep your own porch, and the whole world will be clean.
